Senior Director, Digital TV
Steven Riedl has an extensive background in cable technology and has designed and implemented innovative Emmy award winning products such as Digital Program Insertion, Network PVR, Switched Digital Video and TV Everywhere to name a few. His employers have included IBM, DuPont, DEC, SkyConnect, nCUBE, MystroTV, Time Warner Cable, Canoe Ventures and Turner. Steve has worked on both the business and technology side of cable advertising and delivery. He has implemented TVE Live Signaling and the SCTE 224 Live Metadata Standard. Steve also developed an inexpensive swim timer for his daughters team and started Superior Swim Timing to bring that product to market. He has a BS EE degree from Clarkson University and a MS ECE from Carnegie Mellon University where he researched Optical Matrix Vector Processors. His previous jobs were in Optical Disk manufacturing and testing and mass storage before he started developing cable ad insertion systems. Steven has edited or contributed to many of todays standards including SCTE 30, 35, 67, 104, 130, 224, 236, SMPTE 312M, 2038 and is active in SCTE DVS WG5, SMPTE and the OATC. When not working on cable or swimming products he can usually be found on his ski's or mountain bike in the Colorado or Georgia mountains.
